StreetSmart is a conduit fundraising system operating in a number of countries. StreetSmart SA was founded in 2005 by Margi Biggs and a dedicated Board of Directors. Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu was invited to become patron.
StreetSmart is a very simple system. Patrons at participating restaurants are asked if they would like to support the charity by contributing R5 extra to their table’s bill. They can donate more if they wish or none at all. The proceeds from participating Franschhoek restaurants are used to employ a fulltime social worker who focuses on particular needs of street children and other vulnerable youth in the valley.
