THE LITERARY LISZT

Music with literary connections by the 19th century Romantic virtuoso Franz Liszt  (1811-86) is the focus of Christopher Duigan’s programme ahead of his performances of the same in London, June 2013.

SCHUBERT I ‘Withered Flowers’

Pianist Albie van Schalkwyk joins Liesl Stoltz (flute), to play Schubert’s ‘Trockne Blumen’ Variations’ for flute and piano, and Christopher Duigan in ‘Fantasia in F minor’ for four hands at one piano.

VOICES FOR AFRICA

A FREE concert sponsored by Marriott Asset Management  

Voices for Africa Voices for Africa is a celebratory event featuring two of South Africa’s most established operatic voices – Beverley Chiat (soprano) and Federico Freschi (baritone) with Christopher Duigan at the piano. They are joined by new talent Bongiwe Nakani (mezzo) & Thembinkosi Mgetyengana (tenor), both of whom were prize-winners in Anzwi Omzansi Africa, a project initiated by London–based KwaMashu-born baritone Njabulo Madlala. The local Simunye Choir are featured in a selection of traditional songs.

SCHUBERT II ‘ A consolation for our loneliness’

Christopher Duigan plays solo piano music by Schubert including ‘Four Impromptus’-D.899, selections from ‘Moments musicaux’ and ‘Drei Klavierstücke’ D.946.

SCHUBERT III  ‘The Trout’
