Modern Concepts in Cooking – a dinner demonstration with Chef Peter Tempelhoff

Liam Tomlin Food is very excited to announce that Relais & Châteaux Grand Chef Peter Tempelhoff will be presenting a special dinner demonstration at their Culinary Studio in Franschhoek on Wednesday the 6th of June.

Sharing his experience and modern concepts (which will remind you of a Heston Blumenthal television show!), in the Liam Tomlin Food Culinary Studio with its state of the art demonstration bench and television screens, guests will be able to clearly observe the chef’s skills and techniques while sampling the various dishes and complementing Leopard’s Leap wines.

Currently overseeing the five Relais & Châteaux restaurants within The Collection by Liz McGrath (which includes The Greenhouse – a 2012 Eat Out Top 10 Restaurant), Chef Tempelhoff’s accolades include being awarded as Top Table in London in 2005 and being nominated for Restaurant of the Year 2005 by Harpers and the Queens Restaurant Awards as well as winning the title of Sunday Times Chef of the Year in 2007 and currently holding 9 ½ stars in the Rossouw’s Restaurant guide for 4 of the restaurants he oversees .

Unable to ignore his passion for food, he changed direction from Economics to complete his culinary studies at the Institute of Culinary Arts in Cape Town in 1996. By finishing top of his class, he was awarded a bursary to study at the prestigious Culinary Institute of America after which he started his career as chef at the highly regarded Grande Roche Hotel in Paarl. With a thirst for knowledge, he worked in some of the world’s top restaurants such as Quo Vadis with Marco Pierre White, Hambleton Hall (his first Michelin star restaurant experience), Automat and Zafferano with Giorgio Locatelli.

This unique demonstration dinner allows patrons to tap into a wealth of culinary knowledge while enjoying food prepared by one of South Africa’s top chefs.

Demonstration dinners cost R450 per person which includes a 4-course tasting menu with complementing wines and recipe notes.
