Val de Vie Wine & Polo Estate has a growing reputation for wines that celebrate South African terroir and the history of Southern France. Inspired by the wines from Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Martin Venter acquired the farm Kliprug in 2003 and renamed it Val de Vie. Since then the estate has replanted all its vineyards (15 different Rhône varietals), revamped the 1825 winery and started its quest to become one of the best producers of wines derived from traditional Rhone varietals. These include Clairette Blanche, Grenache blanc, Viognier, Marsanne, Roussanne, Ugni blanc and reds such as Petite Sirah, Cinsaut, Carignan, Grenache noir, Mourvedre and Syrah or Shiraz.
