Franschhoek Wine Valley

Aloe Corner

“Aloe Corner, with its two unique self-catering cottages, The Bolt Hole and The Map Room, lies on one of Franschhoek’s last dirt roads, just a few minutes walk from the main street.

The Bolt Hole is a serene, quirky refuge. Behind a striking wall of aloes, this two-bedroomed cottage is filled with treasures and artefacts. The Bolt Hole has the warmth and character of a lived-in home: the quirky décor, open-plan kitchen, living and dining area and the private garden will inspire and restore many an adventurous spirit. The main bedroom with its kingsize bed lies on a mezzanine level; a claw-foot bath, vanity, plenty of cupboards and air-conditioning make up the amenities. The toilet is downstairs. The second bedroom opens into the garden and has a shower and vanity, a writing nook and the second toilet. The living area opens onto a vine-covered patio with dining area and barbecue. Next to the plunge pool you will find two sun-loungers and an umbrella, an ideal setting to read a book or fall asleep.

The Map Room is spacious and romantic. The huge main bedrrom, with en-suite bathroom and built-in bath is on the ground floor. The second double bedroom with en-suite shower and toilet, also downstairs, can be made up as a king size or twin bedroom. The expansive open-plan and double-volume kitchen/living room and dining area with a log fireplace lies on the first floor and is accessed by a spiral staircase. Six folding glass doors open onto the deck with barbecue, table and chairs, looking out across the vineyards and mountains. Unfortuneately no children under 12 years can be accommodated at The Map Room.

Each cottage has its own fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine; flat screen TV, DVD player; DSTV (cable channels) and WIFI.”
