Bastille Goes Local!
Locals, don’t run away this July. Rather save the date for Franschhoek’s French inspired 25th annual Bastille Festival, 14 and 15 July.
This year is guaranteed to bring out the Parisian in you, as you celebrate the valley’s heritage with us in the marquee.
The village, as always, will be a hive of activities – dressed to the nines in the French colours of red, blue and white – and let us, as locals embrace our town’s heritage and add that extra element of community spirit throughout the weekend.
The Food & Wine Marquee, is the place to be and be seen. It is guaranteed to keep out the cold yet still offering exquisite views of the mountain. Enjoy Franschhoek wines on offer or treat your taste buds to the selection of delicious French inspired food as we welcome back many of Franschhoek’s top chefs back into the marquee.
Sunday is perfectly geared towards the family. While mom and dad sample the wines, children will be kept entertained for hours with the selection of activities on offer including obstacles courses, jumping castles and more. Adults will also have the chance to try their hand at old school lawn games while the quirky caricature artist and live music by Uncorked add the final touches to what promises to be a fabulous Sunday in your town!
The Sunday runs from 11h00 to 15h00 and locals get a discounted rate of R150 per person, while kids under 18 enter for free. We invite all locals to come and enjoy the festival. Enjoy the local wine, food, bands and crowd. Ample fun kiddies’ entertainment for the young ones will ensure that mom and dad can also look forward to a carefree festival experience. Kids can also look forward to delicious treats to keep hungry tummies at bay. Tickets are available to purchase directly from the Franschhoek Wine Valley Tourism office.
Let’s make this a locals gathering and celebration to remember.
We look forward to seeing many familiar faces back in the marquee this year!
