The Cape Winelands Biosphere Reserve (CWBR), a non-profit company, was registered in 2007 with UNESCO as South Africa’s 5th biosphere reserve and covers 322 032 ha in the Western Cape Winelands.
CWBR has a multitude of projects based around Conservation, Education and Research. All, interlinked, in order to be meaningful and effective, in the ever-changing situations and landscapes we work in. The Base Line Data Project, using the latest drone technology, feed up-to-date information to University research programs, Municipalities, WWF, Alien clearing Agencies, Department of Environmental Affairs, Cape Nature, Tourism and other affiliated organizations.
The educational programs support the needs across the board, from 3-year-olds to adults. This includes, but not limited to, building schools, training educators, outdoor educational hikes and camps, permaculture gardens and registered adult educational courses.
