Franschhoek Wine Valley

Get cultured with our cheesemaking Workshop at Babylonstoren

  • R700 p.p.
  • 09, 17 June 2021, 10:00 – 15:00
  • Presented by Alta Eybers & Simoné Rossouw
  • Please meet us at the Farm Shop

Only 15 places available

Observe our main mouse on the farm, Alta Eybers, and learn a thing or two about making cheese. First you’ll get to meet the farm’s herd of water buffalos that produce the milk we use to make our traditional style buffalo mozzarella cheese. In the fully equipped Cheese Room, Alta will demonstrate the craft behind this creamy delicacy – from cutting the curds to stretching it into balls.

An introduction and tasting of specialities such as our ricotta and halloumi will follow. Finally, guests are invited to a hands-on experience of making Buffalo mozzarella before being treated to a lunch of cheese, meats and preserves, fresh from the Babylonstoren deli store – the perfect end to a cheesy day!

Steaming coffee from our Lekker Room is served upon arrival.
Lunch at the Spice House is included.
