We start the day with a walk through the vegetable garden, harvesting a variety of seasonal leaves and edible flowers while sharing growing tips.
Our special focus for the day will be on Tia’s “no-dig bed”, from preparation to planting. So what’s a no-dig bed? Tia explains: “Although it might seem counterintuitive to many gardeners, not digging echoes nature, where the soil structure is left undisturbed. New organic matter, like fallen leaves and dead plants, are left on the surface of the soil – this is then pulled down into the soil by earthworms, aerating as they go.
In the afternoon we get practical, sowing lettuce seeds and planting a box with summer salads for easy harvesting at home.
Lunch will be enjoyed at the Greenhouse Restaurant and is included in the price. For our hotel guests, the events for the day are included in your stay – book at reservations@babylonstoren.com
