5th annual Fedhealth MTB Challenge at Boschendal Wine Estate

Boschendal Farm Estate perfect venue to host

5th annual Fedhealth MTB Challenge

One of South Africa’s oldest wine estates, Boschendal Farm Estate (The Retreat) will host the 5th annual Fedhealth MTB Challenge on Saturday, 07 September 2019 and Sunday, 08 September 2019.

“Boschendal is the perfect venue as its beauty speaks for itself,” says Chris Norton, Boschendal Farm Estate Trail Centre Manager and Owner of BMT Bike Shop (Stellenbosch). “The owner, Tony Tabatznik, has done a phenomenal job with his team in transforming the farm into a community and conservation based entity where mountain biking has a major role to play. Located near the Franschhoek Valley the farm estate boasts over 600 species of fynbos and 1000 hectares of protected nature reserve intertwined with fruit orchards. It is a place where grass-fed Angus cattle, forest-fed pigs and free range chickens work alongside the farming team to replenish and revitalise the soils. Boschendal is also still populated by an abundance of indigenous creatures such as duiker, klipspringer, porcupine, mongoose, caracal and even leopard.”

“It’s great to be the host venue of the Fedhealth MTB Challenge,” continues Norton. “The partnership assists in promoting both the farm’s trails and Fedhealth’s products. Fedhealth is one of the few Medical schemes that cover extreme sports so the brands are a perfect match. The Fedhealth MTB Challenge features a distance for everyone. Be sure to sign up for the distance that you know you are capable of and you will have a great day on the bike. Mountain bikers, families and friends can expect incredible trails, great food and beverages and one of the best race vibes around. With ample parking, great restaurants and incredible accommodation you can’t go wrong.”
