The running race like no other is back in 2015! The Cape Town route of Wingsfor Life World Run will once again showcase the finest of South Africa’s iconic Winelands with participants racing their worldwide rivals to the backdrop of mountains, vineyards and orchards.
The 2014 event saw a total of 35 397 runners start at exactly the same time in 32 countries around the world, racing ahead of a Catcher Car instead of towards a finish line. And – while the Cape weather didn’t quite cooperate – it didn’t stop thousands of runners turning out to race the loop from Boschendal Wine Estate through the Franschhoek valley.
It was 35 year-old marathon ace Coolboy Ngamole who conquered the rain to claim the South African title by completing a total of 59.84 kms before he was eventually caught by the Catcher Car.
Racing is one thing, but a big feature of the event was how serious racers and fun-seeking weekend warriors all got their fix. 2015 will be no different.
