High up on the Franschhoek pass overlooking one of the most beautiful valleys in the world, is Haute Cabrière Cellar Restaurant. Built into the flank of one of the surrounding mountains, the restaurant has a magnificent view of this beautiful valley. Proprietor Achim von Arnim and Cellar Master Takuan von Arnims’ Pinot Noir vineyard is on the slopes immediately below, producing premiere MCC and classic cultivar wines available at cellar door prices in the restaurant.
Chefs Nic van Wyk and Westley Muller prepare classic dishes with modern sensibility. Much of the food served is from the valley – fresh Salmon trout bred and grown in the cold stream water that flows down the mountains, vegetables and herbs from the wine farm’s garden, fruit from the surrounding plum, peach and pear orchards, seasonal berries, goat’s milk cheese from Paarl and line fish delivered daily from the Indian and Atlantic Ocean.
