Every year Lynx Wines seems to be one of the first wineries to release a wine from the new vintage. This year is no different and on 28 March they are holding the official launch of their delightfully pink Blanc de Noir 2015, only 9 weeks after the grapes were harvested.
Made 100% from Merlot grapes that were picked slightly early to maintain the freshness and keep the alcohol at a sensible 12%, the wine only spent 1½ hours on the skin to give it its delicate pink colour.
The wine has become Lynx’s biggest selling item and every year they seem to run out around January despite annual increases in production – this year a hefty 20%!
The 2015 vintage caught winemakers by surprise admits Winemaker Helgard van Schalkwyk “the harvest was 2 weeks earlier than ever before, and 3 weeks earlier than last year… all adding to the excitement of the harvest”.
The launch will be a relaxed occasion on the lawn at Lynx Wines with popular Cape Town pop-up Salud Taquería joining Lynx to dish up their contemporary range of mouth-watering tacos. Music will be provided by the popular local artist Peter Vanne.
