At its heart lies the Pickstone Oval home to the oldest cricket pitch in South Africa that is still in use today. This historic ground, surrounded by breathtaking scenery, remains a cherished venue for both local and visiting teams. Regular hosting social leagues, touring sides, it captures the timeless charm and camaraderie of the game. It is also available to bespoke events and function bookings.

Beyond cricket, Groot Drakenstein is expanding. By November 2025, three brand -new international -standard padel courts will open creating a vibrant new chapter for players of all levels. The Clubhouse-already a popular venue for functions and gatherings – will also begin new regular hours, serving refreshments and light snacks.

Visitors can enjoy a full bar service with refreshingly cold Hey Joe Brewing Co. craft beer on tap and selection of featured local wineries from the Franschhoek Valley, freshly brewed Terbodore Coffee, snacks, and guest WI-FI. The Club maintains a cashless enviroment and relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere.
