La Chataigne

La Chataigne boutique wine farm is located in the heart of the Franschhoek Winelands, surrounded by majestic mountains and endless vineyards. Come and enjoy a few days or more in this wonderful part of the South African Winelands, just an hour’s drive from Cape Town and only 20 minutes drive from Stellenbosch.

Guests have a choice of three charming Riverside Cottages set along the Franschhoek River, and two Scandi-Chic contemporary Stable Cottages with mountain views and private pools.

All of our cottages are self-catering with fully equipped kitchens, modern amenities, spacious open plan living areas and en suite bedrooms. Outdoor space is key to the La Chataigne experience and the two terraces of our Riverside Cottages and large elevated private decks at our Stable Cottages, allow guests to fully absorb the surroundings. We encourage our guest to make themselves at home and play a game of boules at sunset, or pick herbs and vegetables from the Garden to add to their evening meal. On icy winter nights you can cosy up next to the fireplace with a good book in one hand and a glass of our Marron red wine in the other. And on those hot summer days, there is an enticing swimming pool in the pear orchard which is best enjoyed with a bottle of Rosé.

Our cottages are private and peaceful, yet conveniently close to other Franschhoek wine estates and the bustling Franschhoek Village, offering the ideal space for an authentic farm stay.
